Caitlyn: Belief perseverance means that you believe a certain way, even though all evidence points the other direction.

Jessica: Belief perseverance is when you have high hopes for something happening that, at the end of the day, has no chance of happening.

Isaac: Believe perseverance appears in my own life, because I work in a pawnshop, and people sell things to me. And sometimes, they believe that their item is worth way more than it actually is. And a specific example happened, where a guy tried to sell us a couch. It used to be worth $800 new. It had a couple of stains and rips on it. But they were kind of hidden, so I was going to put it for maybe about $140. And he did not like my offer for his couch. He truly believed that the couch was worth $800, even though it was in terrible condition. And he left with the couch and the belief that it was still worth $800.

Avery: I have a friend who is a flat-Earther. That's what they call themselves. That's what she calls herself. She believes that the Earth is flat, even though there's a lot of evidence that the Earth isn't flat, and that the Earth has been proven to be round. She still believes that the Earth is flat.

Caitlyn: A time where I experience belief perseverance was when I got-- I've maintained a 78 in the class all semester. And there's barely any opportunities to get a higher grade. But I still believe that I'm going to get an A just because I really want my 4.0.

Jessica: My appearance-- they felt like I had so much cheer that I would be a cheerleader and all this stuff. And I was like, no, that's not who I am. I'm more like a sporty girl, and I'm doing sporty things. And they're like, well, no, you should be a cheerleader. You should be something peppy. I'm like, that's not me. I'm sorry.
