Finding, Narrowing, and Exploring Your Topic

A topic is what, who, or where you are writing about. Any topic that you choose to write about should pass the following test.

QUESTIONS FOR FINDING A GOOD TOPIC

Does this topic interest me?
Can I find out more about it?
Can I get involved with this topic? Is it relevant to my life in some way?
Does it fit the assignment, focusing on a subject neither too broad nor too narrow to treat in the assigned length?

Choose one of the following broad topics or one of your own, and focus on one specific aspect of it that you think would make a good topic for a short essay.
