We can fix anything Everyone is going to see things differently - and that's the way it should be. Each highlight must have it's own private shadow.

Only God can make a tree - but you can paint one. Of course he's a happy little stone, cause we don't have any other kind. Let your imagination be your guide. We don't want to set these clouds on fire. We'll put some happy little leaves here and there. The only thing worse than yellow snow is green snow.

I thought today we would make a happy little stream that's just running through the woods here. We have no limits to our world. We're only limited by our imagination. Everyone wants to enjoy the good parts - but you have to build the framework first. Here we're limited by the time we have. Everyone needs a friend. Friends are the most valuable things in the world. I guess that would be considered a UFO. A big cotton ball in the sky. This is unplanned it really just happens. The first step to doing anything is to believe you can do it. See it finished in your mind before you ever start. It's beautiful - and we haven't even done anything to it yet.

Every highlight needs it's own personal shadow. I spend a lot of time walking around in the woods and talking to trees, and squirrels, and little rabbits and stuff. It's cold, but it's beautiful. How to paint. That's easy. What to paint. That's much harder. We don't really know where this goes - and I'm not sure we really care. When you buy that first tube of paint it gives you an artist license. At home you have unlimited time. We need dark in order to show light. And just raise cain.

If you don't like it - change it. It's your world. Just beat the devil out of it. We have a fantastic little sky! Trees grow however makes them happy.

If I paint something, I don't want to have to explain what it is. Maybe we got a few little happy bushes here, just covered with snow. Let's give him a friend too. Everybody needs a friend. We have all at one time or another mixed some mud. I want everbody to be happy. That's what it's all about. You can do anything your heart can imagine. And that's when it becomes fun - you don't have to spend your time thinking about what's happening - you just let it happen. You can create anything that makes you happy. You better get your coat out, this is going to be a cold painting. Brown is such a nice color. We artists are a different breed of people. We're a happy bunch. This is probably the greatest thing that's ever happened in my life. You have to allow the paint to break to make it beautiful. See. We take the corner of the brush and let it play back-and-forth.

Didn't you know you had that much power? You can move mountains. You can do anything. You don't have to spend all your time thinking about what you're doing, you just let it happen. Any little thing can be your friend if you let it be. We'll take a little bit of Van Dyke Brown. A tree cannot be straight if it has a crooked trunk. Steve wants reflections, so let's give him reflections. Use your imagination, let it go. I'm gonna start with a little Alizarin crimson and a touch of Prussian blue

There's nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend. This piece of canvas is your world. Let all these things just sort of happen. Maybe there was an old trapper that lived out here and maybe one day he went to check his beaver traps, and maybe he fell into the river and drowned. Use what you see, don't plan it. So often we avoid running water, and running water is a lot of fun. That is when you can experience true joy, when you have no fear. Put it in, leave it alone. You got your heavy coat out yet? It's getting colder. Now we don't want him to get lonely, so we'll give him a little friend. They say everything looks better with odd numbers of things. But sometimes I put even numbers—just to upset the critics. I'm going to mix up a little color. We’ll use Van Dyke Brown, Permanent Red, and a little bit of Prussian Blue. Be careful. You can always add more - but you can't take it away. Everything's not great in life, but we can still find beauty in it. You're meant to have fun in life.

Put your feelings into it, your heart, it's your world. This is your creation - and it's just as unique and special as you are. Just use the old one inch brush. We'll play with clouds today. Imagination is the key to painting. We spend so much of our life looking - but never seeing. If you didn't have baby clouds, you wouldn't have big clouds.

Volunteering your time; it pays you and your whole community fantastic dividends. Let's put a touch more of the magic here. There comes a nice little fluffer. I like to beat the brush. You're the greatest thing that has ever been or ever will be. You're special. You're so very special. Just go back and put one little more happy tree in there. I'll go over the colors one more time that we use: Titanium white, Thalo green, Prussian blue, Van Dyke brown, Alizarin crimson, Sap green, Cad yellow, and Permanent red.

There we go. No worries. No cares. Just float and wait for the wind to blow you around. Nothing's gonna make your husband or wife madder than coming home and having a snow-covered dinner. Sometimes you learn more from your mistakes than you do from your masterpieces. Working it up and down, back and forth. And right there you got an almighty cloud. Don't forget to tell these special people in your life just how special they are to you. We're not trying to teach you a thing to copy. We're just here to teach you a technique, then let you loose into the world. Now we can begin working on lots of happy little things. Let's get wild today.

Pretend you're water. Just floating without any effort. Having a good day. A tree needs to be your friend if you're going to paint him. If you overwork it you become a cloud killer. There's nothing worse than a cloud killer. Just go out and talk to a tree. Make friends with it. Let's do that again. The man who does the best job is the one who is happy at his job. A thin paint will stick to a thick paint. A big strong tree needs big strong roots.

Here's something that's fun. This is your world. Just take out whatever you don't want. It'll change your entire perspective. We tell people sometimes: we're like drug dealers, come into town and get everybody absolutely addicted to painting. It doesn't take much to get you addicted. Look around, look at what we have. Beauty is everywhere, you only have to look to see it. The more we do this - the more it will do good things to our heart. Isn't it fantastic that you can change your mind and create all these happy things? Go out on a limb - that's where the fruit is. You can do anything here - the only pre-requisite is that it makes you happy. Each highlight must have it's own private shadow. And I will hypnotize that just a little bit.

We don't have to be committed. We are just playing here. There it is. We'll put all the little clouds in and let them dance around and have fun. Trees live in your fan brush, but you have to scare them out. This is a happy place, little squirrels live here and play. This is your world, whatever makes you happy you can put in it. Go crazy. Little trees and bushes grow however makes them happy. That's crazy. Just let this happen. We just let this flow right out of our minds. It's a good way of getting rid of all your anxieties and hostilities. Painting should do one thing. It should put happiness in your heart.

We'll paint one happy little tree right here. You have freedom here. The only guide is your heart. Let's have a little bit of fun today. You don't want to kill all your dark areas they are very important. And I know you're saying, 'Oh Bob, you've done it this time.' And you may be right. Let all these little things happen. Don't fight them. Learn to use them. As trees get older they lose their chlorophyll. Don't hurry. Take your time and enjoy. If you've been in Alaska less than a year you're a Cheechako. We don't need any guidelines or formats. All we need to do is just let it flow right out of us. Let's put some happy little clouds in our world. The little tiny Tim easels will let you down. The only prerequisite is that it makes you happy. If it makes you happy then it's good.
