Peer Reviewing

Peer review — when students exchange drafts and comment on one another’s work — is one of the best ways to get help with revising. Other students can often see things that you might not — parts that are good and parts that need to be strengthened or clarified.

If you are working with one other student, read each other’s papers and write down a few comments. If you are working in a small group, you may want to have writers take turns reading their papers aloud. Group members can make notes while listening and then offer comments to the writer that will help improve the paper.

BASICS OF USEFUL FEEDBACK

Often, it is useful for the writer to give the person or people providing feedback a few questions to focus on as they read or listen.
