Age of Onset of Suicidal Behavior During Adolescence A recent survey of a nationally representative sample of U.S. adolescents shows that although suicidal thoughts and behaviors are quite rare among children (the rate was 0.0 for ages 1–4), they increase dramatically starting at age 12 and continuing to climb throughout adolescence.
