Food Aid Men haul bags of rice from a boat arriving on the northern coast of Somalia. French children donated the food in response to the 1992 famine. Somalia plunged into yet another famine in 2011. This recent crisis led to the deaths of 10% of children under the age of 5 in the country’s south and central regions (BBC News, 2013, May 2).
