Review what you have already written to see if you have something that would work to launch your story. If not, experiment with ways to begin, and review the readings to see how they begin. Here are some additional ideas:

A graphic description of a place or person
A startling action that you or someone else took
A telling bit of dialogue
Your present reflections on your past self or on the context of the event
