Writing in Your Community

Service learning combines classroom education with life experience. In service-learning programs, students are most often placed in off-campus positions with government bureaus such as local parks and recreation departments or nonprofit organizations that offer community support services such as tutoring or computer skills. In these positions, students have an opportunity to apply what they are studying in class. Here are a few examples:

Though you will probably find much to write about in your community service experience, you may also find writing to a wider audience to be part of your service.
