The Japanse have a almost mystical feeling for they language. People who speak Japanese are distinct by race and by birth. Native Japanese peoples learn kokugo, or national language. On the other hand, foreigners learn nihingo, or Japanese language. Leaning nihingo mean that you are racially distinct from the language and culture of native-born Japanese.
