Chapter 11, Additional Exercise 5: Comparing Two Designs

In groups of two or three, compare the design of Technical Communication with the design of a textbook from one of your other classes. What similarities do you notice? What differences? How might the similarities and differences be attributable to the audience and purpose for each text? Which seems more effectively designed? Present your findings in a 500-word memo to your instructor. Attach printouts of one representative page from each publication. (See Chapter 14 for a discussion of memos.)
