Planning a Research Project

To research a topic effectively at the college level requires a plan. A clear sense of your rhetorical situation, as well as the practical needs of your research task (such as the due date and the level of detail required), will help you create one. Figure 20.1 lists common elements that you will need to consider not only as you plan your research project, but also as you continue to find and evaluate sources and draft your project.
