Meltwater streams deposit glacial outwash downstream of the ice front. The inset photo shows till deposited during the Pleistocene epoch on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada in California. Note the wide range of particle sizes and the lack of stratification. The large boulder the person is standing on is an example of a glacial erratic.
