Each spherical dot represents a cluster of galaxies. To better see the three-dimensionality of this figure, colored arcs are drawn from each cluster to the green plane, which is an extension of the plane of the Milky Way outward into the universe. Note that clusters of galaxies are unevenly distributed here, as they are elsewhere in the universe.
