So some people claim that environmentally friendly homes are much too costly to build. But in reality, these environmental homes are cost-sustainable over a long term. Really this argument is silly and kind of short-sighted. What we see is that although we might have a slightly negligibly more expensive house to build initially, over the long term period we're going to have savings because things are going to be cheaper in terms of heating costs, cooling costs, and general maintenance. These things will all be cheaper with an environmentally friendly home. So this idea that it's more expensive to build initially doesn't necessarily mean that it's not cost-effective.
