According to the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association last updated on April 1, 2007, it has been estimated that 350 to 400,000 children are affected by this disease each year. Yet 79% of them remain undiagnosed, and lack the education and support services necessary to take care of the disease. Awareness of this disease and its life altering problems is crucial in a country where, according to the American Obesity Association, 45% of its youth are suffering the effects of being overweight or obese.
