Student Clip 11: Emily Long
Ethics: Presenting information neutrally

What type of negative and positive impacts could human genetic engineering have? Some of the cons are: Terrorists could use this technology to reproduce killer viruses. Anyone could create the so-called "perfect race." Some testing and trials have already resulted in death. And, although it's possible to reproduce someone's body, it will never be possible to replace their soul. How about some of the pros? Certain life-threatening diseases could be eliminated. It may eventually be used to cure heart disease, cancer, and AIDS. It could not only correct physical disabilities but could bring an end to them altogether. It gives parents more choices about what characteristics their children will have.
