  • Cite an abstract as you would an unpublished dissertation.

  • After the dissertation date, give the abbreviation DA or DAI (for Dissertation Abstracts or Dissertation Abstracts International).

  • Give the volume and issue numbers; the year of publication; inclusive page numbers; and the medium of publication.

  • If there are no page numbers, give the item number.

  • For an abstract accessed in an online database, give the item number in place of the page number, followed by the name of the database, the medium, and your date of access.
