APA or Chicago system for citation in education writing

Writers in education typically use the style guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA) or The Chicago Manual of Style for formatting their paper, for citing sources in the text of their paper, and for listing sources at the end. In education courses, instructors will usually indicate which style they prefer.

The APA system is set forth in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th ed. (Washington: APA, 2010). Chicago style is found in The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th ed. (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2010).
