Explain

  • Give the author and title of the review (if any), as for an article in a journal, magazine, or newspaper.
  • Add, in brackets, the words “Review of” and the type of work (book, motion picture, and so on).
  • Give the title of the work reviewed followed by the author for a book or the year for a film.
  • If the review has no author, begin with the title of the review.
  • If the review has no author or title, use the material in brackets as the title.

Note on breaking URLs and DOIs

  • If you must break a URL or a DOI at the end of a line, break it after a double slash or before any other mark of punctuation.
  • Do not add a hyphen.
  • Do not put a period at the end of the entry.
