Notes on an audio podcast
Before writing an analysis of King Anyi Howell’s podcast “Hustlers, Street Vendors, and Farmers,” Talia Souza listened to the podcast several times. Here are her notes from her third time through:
Narration by Molly Adams (welcome and intro)
Then upbeat, jazzy music (horns and drums?) plays under Molly’s voice
Music fades out as Molly introduces the piece
King Anyi Howell’s piece starts with the sound of two men talking, outside—can hear what sounds like car traffic and people walking by; can hear the rustling of one of the men putting something in a bag; can hear the men talking about the cost of what’s being bagged
Howell’s voice comes in over the two men talking, explaining that he’s at a farmers’ market
Howell describes the busy intersection (can hear street sounds in the background)
Howell introduces a young woman, a shopper who describes the market
Howell describes a group of vendors, with men talking in the background
Sounds in piece: narration (by writers); clips of people talking; music; street noises
