Framing the Reading

Lauren Perry wrote this paper for Laurie Uttich’s ENC 1102 class in Spring 2010 at the University of Central Florida (UCF). She subsequently revised it for publication in UCF’s Stylus: A Journal of First-Year Writing. It later won a prize at the 1st Annual Knights Write Showcase.

As a person with hearing impairment, Perry read the research on ways that such impairment affects writing, and she wondered whether the problems researchers identified remained after the student had experienced extensive schooling.
