Use adjectives to modify nouns.

Use adverbs to modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs.

Correct example sentence: The senator's aide felt bad about refusing comment on the controversial vote.

Correct example sentence: The low scores did not really indicate how well the skaters performed.

Use good and well, bad and badly correctly.

Correct example sentence: Which of the three candidates traveled farthest during the campaign?

Correct example sentence: Which of the two candidates traveled farther during the campaign?

Use comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs correctly.

Correct example sentence: No one is doing anything about recycling in our building.

Correct example sentence: The student could barely keep her eyes open, but she took the test anyway.

Don’t use negative modifiers together with other negative words in the same sentence.
