Perfect tenses

More complex time relations are indicated by the perfect tenses.

Present perfect tense (have, has + past participle)

Example sentences: An-Mei has not spoken Chinese since she was a child. My parents have traveled to South Africa twice.

Past perfect tense (had + past participle)

Example sentence: I had just finished the test when the professor announced that time was up.

Future perfect tense (will + have + past participle)

Example sentence: By the time I graduate, I will have taken five literature classes.
