FRAGILITY
Make women appear fragile. Their body language and body type should reflect delicacy.
For example, head cant, inwardly-pointing toes, and nibbling should be used to exhibit vulnerability.
Rule of Fragility: Make women appear off-balance as if they are looking for a prosthetic or Prince Charming.
DEPENDENT
Women should periodically be pictured with other women. Remember, women are social beings who work at being dreams or developing playful girl-friendships.
FRAGMENTED
Women can be pictured as body parts.Emphasize how fragmented women's lives are without friends or men; women are never whole. They are trying to become whole. Our clothes fill and dig this (w)hole.
Instruct audiences that women are digital; their bodies are cut and paste; their bodies can and should be manipulated easily.
STRENGTH
Men should be photographed with their bodies intact. Their minds and bodies work together and should never be separated.
Because it is a man’s job to be strong and confident, the male models should be photographed to emphasize these characteristics.
For instance, they should have their hands confidently placed in their pockets or firmly at their sides.
UNIQUE, INDEPENDENT, and CONFIDENT
Men should be pictured alone — emphasizing once again their individuality and identity. Each man stands alone in his strength. He should not be displayed in relation to another.
Men are unique and individuals, so a variety of body types is acceptable.
Facial expressions can vary. However, they should not stray from the confident smile, the thoughtful gaze, or the focused stare.
*Do not worry about conforming male bodies to one particular standard like with women.
